The opening of classes was really well organized. The surroundings were clean, the tall grasses were completely cut off, the pathways were built properly, the broken structures of the classroom were fixed, new lockers were built, the tables and the chairs were repainted and some old floors of the rooms were changed into tiles. These are all because of the successful launching of Brigada Eskwela held on March 23-28, 2011. Almost all of the parents, students and teachers participated.
The day started with a flag ceremony held at the court. Students fell in line according to their sections. The boys were separated from the girls. The line is from the tallest to smallest. Every sections have an assigned platoon leaders. The teachers were the one assigned to lead the flag ceremony. Despite the discomfort brought by the hot weather, the flag ceremony is still going on. Most of the students are getting their handkerchief in their pocket and wipe their sweat off. The flag ceremony started with a prayer, followed by the singing of national anthem then the pledge, the Cavite National Science High School hymn and the exercise. The latecomers were asked to do their own flag ceremony.
I saw new faces of students when I looked to my right. They were the freshmen. I knew that it is natural for both students and teachers to feel excitement and anxiety. Others, like the freshmen, feel nervous because they are new in the school. I knew that they feel strange because of the new environment that they were adapting. The teachers too feel strange because they will be handling new sets of students with different faces. I knew that it is hard for them to remember the names of the students because they were handling five sections. I too feel strange because of the new classrooms, teachers, and classmates that I will meet.
I knew that most of the students have new bags, shoes, socks and pencil cases. That is the reason why some of the students feel excited in going to the school. They want to use their new things. But I knew that it is only from the beginning that they will feel excited. Because most of the students want to go to school if it is vacation but if they are in the school now, they want to have a vacation.
The opening of classes is very successful. I really appreciate it. The teachers, guard, students, and he canteen managers have done their part and they did a very good job. They did all their best to have a good opening. Thanks God that we maintained the orderliness and cleanliness of the school. I wish that the opening of classes would be the same as next year.
