A Day to Remember..

         Astronomy is a natural science that deals with the study of celestial objects that originate outside the Earth's atmosphere. Many of us are curious about the appearance of the universe. So, many programs have been made to promote our awareness of the universe. One of these is the Skyxplore.Their objective is to promote astronomy awareness in the Philippines and help Filipinos rediscover their place in the universe. They are going to different schools to promote their program. They have many different events like ask an astronomer, space dome, film showing, exhibit , and most of all, the star gazing.

        When they went to our school, everyone is very excited to see their most awaited event. In the morning, they were preparing every room for their events. They were putting black blankets in the window, assembling their telescopes, and building the giant tent in the gym for the space dome. I am very excited in their awaited activities. Finally, our section was called because it was our time to go to their first event. This is the film showing. Upon entering the chemistry laboratory, where the event will occur, I was very excited to sit and overlook the film. After watching the film, I learned that there were many kinds of telescopes and many people who invented them like Galileo Galilei, Hans Lipperhey, and many others. After that, it was our time to go to the gym and go inside the space dome. It was my most awaited moment because I don't know what is inside the space dome. We were waiting for the batch 2 to finish their event in space dome. At first, I thought that there is an astronaut wearing the costume at the space dome because the lecturer in the film showing said that there is an astronomer named ate Erika in the space dome. I thought that when we go inside the space dome, we will float because there is a big electric fan outside. But when we go inside, I was amazed because there was sun and moon above. When we were about to see the mercury, the astronomer asked us to have a countdown 1 to 5. We became childish because we counted 5.... 4.... 3... 2... 1... then we will shout simultaneously, "wwooowww!!!". I was really amazed because I think that the mercury will fall upon me. I really love it! I think I don't want to go outside the space dome anymore. But unfortunately, it was our time to go to the exhibit. I saw a huge telescope and many different meteorites in the physics laboratory where the event has occurred. When I touched the meteorites, I was surprised because even if it is only small, it is very heavy. After that, we have our lunch. We went to the gym to do the next event which is the ask an astronomer. I was bored that time because I am very sleepy. I did not understand very well what the astronomer is saying. After that, we just stayed in the research laboratory room to feel the cold air and relax. We were all waiting for the most awaited event which is the star gazing. I was surprised and felt disappointed when I saw that the clouds are dark and the rain is about to fall. I am praying that it will not rain so the the star gazing will push through. But unfortunately, the rain become stronger. I did not lose my hope. Until the rain had stopped. I felt happy. I thought that the star gazing will push through, but when I asked an astronomer, she said that it wouldn't be pushed through because the sky is very cloudy and they could not see a star. I was very disappointed that time but the astronomer said that they will just go back to the school some other time.

      Even if the stargazing didn't push through due to the bad weather, I felt happy and amazed because I learned many things. They were successful in promoting astronomy awareness in our school and help us rediscover our place place in the universe. I just hope that they will go back in our school and push through the star gazing activity.
